In brief

Check your chosen Irish programme, entry conditions and immigration eligibility before paying fees. Plan tuition and living costs in euro, confirm scholarship terms, and use the current official study-visa and registration guidance for your circumstances.

Check the course and eligible-programme lists

Choose a programme by its qualification level, subject content, campus and progression opportunities. Ask the institution how it assesses your Nepali qualifications and whether your previous subjects meet the entry conditions. Education in Ireland recommends researching the institution and following its own application procedure.

For study longer than ninety days, Irish immigration guidance directs students to the Interim List of Eligible Programmes or the TrustEd Ireland Providers eligible programmes list. Programmes do not appear on both lists, so check both as the official guidance instructs. Record the exact programme and provider rather than relying on a broad claim that an institution is approved.

Budget beyond tuition

Confirm the international tuition for the programme, intake and period covered. Add compulsory charges, accommodation, food, transport, insurance, travel and initial setup costs. Investigate real accommodation options in the campus area before accepting a generic national living-cost estimate.

Check when fees become due and what happens if the visa is refused or the course is deferred. Keep accommodation deposits and refundable sums distinct from permanent expenses. Financial evidence for immigration has its own rules, and the official study guidance says students must show adequate funds without relying on casual employment.

Read scholarship and English conditions directly

Use the university's admissions page to check accepted English evidence, required component scores and validity. Ask for written clarification where your qualification or proposed alternative evidence is unusual. An admissions waiver should not be treated as an exemption from every immigration evidence requirement.

Check university awards and official schemes such as the Higher Education Authority's Government of Ireland International Education Scholarships. Read the current call's nationality or domicile conditions, study level, application requirements and timetable. Confirm the award period: funding for one year does not necessarily cover a longer programme.

Prepare the applicable visa and registration steps

Use Immigration Service Delivery's study travel path for your nationality, course and intended length of stay. Visa-required applicants coming for longer-term study should follow the long-term study-visa instructions and required-document list. Check course acceptance, financial evidence, fee-payment evidence and medical-insurance conditions as applicable.

A visa application, permission to enter and the registration of an eligible longer stay are distinct steps. Read the official guidance for arrival and registration, and check the conditions on the permission granted. Avoid treating admission, work rights or a later graduate route as automatic outcomes of paying a tuition deposit.

Prepare a consistent application record in Nepal

Keep academic and immigration requirements in separate checklists. Record every document sent, payment made and response received. Give accurate dates for education and employment, and explain any gaps with the relevant supporting material.

  • Check passport names against transcripts, certificates and application records.
  • Collect academic references, English evidence and programme-specific requirements.
  • Save the offer, fee and scholarship terms, receipts and financial-source evidence.
  • Check insurance, accommodation, travel and registration arrangements against official instructions.

Common questions

Is checking the ILEP alone sufficient?

The current Irish guidance instructs applicants to check both the ILEP and the TrustEd Ireland Providers eligible programmes list, because eligible programmes do not appear on both lists.

Can part-time work replace my funding plan for Ireland?

The official study guidance requires adequate financial resources without relying on casual work. Build a viable study budget and check the conditions of any work permission separately.
