Check whether the residence and travel conditions make a UK visa TB test necessary, then use the current GOV.UK approved Nepal clinic list. A test from an unapproved provider cannot replace the required certificate.
Check the residence conditions, not nationality alone
The GOV.UK test guide links the requirement to the intended UK stay and recent residence in listed countries. Its current test is a stay of at least six months, residence in a listed country for six months or more, and living in a listed country within the previous six months. Read the full exceptions and any rules specific to your application.
Nepal appears in the country guidance. If your history involves several countries, write down where you lived and when before asking the university’s immigration team about your case. A Nepali passport alone does not explain every possible residence situation, and a friend’s exemption does not establish yours.
Use the live approved-clinic list
The Nepal GOV.UK page identifies approved IOM clinic arrangements in Jhapa and Kathmandu at the source-check date. Open that page directly to obtain the current addresses, booking instructions and contact information. Do not rely on an old social-media advertisement or assume an ordinary hospital certificate is accepted.
Contact the listed clinic using independently obtained details, explain that the appointment is for a UK visa TB certificate and ask about availability. Approval and practical arrangements can change, so verify the current listing before travelling. Pay through the clinic’s authorized process and keep the receipt.
Prepare the clinic’s requested documents
Read the Nepal page’s attendance and document instructions, then confirm anything unclear with the clinic. Prepare the requested identification, photographs and relevant medical information in the format it specifies. Ask about the appointment process, expected timing and any assistance you need rather than guessing from another country’s procedure.
For children, pregnancy or medical questions, follow the approved clinician’s advice. The general GOV.UK guide explains that children attend a clinician assessment and that younger children do not normally undergo the same procedure as adults. This page does not provide medical advice or determine which clinical tests an individual should receive.
Plan the certificate around the application
GOV.UK states that a certificate showing no TB is normally valid for six months from the chest X-ray date. Coordinate the appointment with your likely visa submission and allow time for any further clinical work. A booking confirmation is not a completed certificate.
When the document is issued, check identity details against the passport and ask the clinic to address errors promptly. Keep the original safe and prepare the copy required by the application process. If the application is delayed, check whether the certificate remains valid instead of assuming an old result can be reused.
Confirm costs and any follow-up directly
The Nepal clinic guidance explains its own fees and payment arrangements. Ask for the current amount, currency conversion and any additional charge before the appointment; this publication does not maintain a separate live clinic-price list. Include the expense in your study budget rather than confusing it with the visa application fee.
If a clinic requests follow-up, ask it about the clinical process and timing. Separately tell the university if this affects its CAS or latest-arrival deadlines. A valid TB certificate addresses one requirement; it does not establish admission, financial eligibility or the outcome of a visa application.
Common questions
Can I take the UK visa TB test at any hospital in Nepal?
Use a provider on the current Home Office-approved list. GOV.UK says it will not accept a certificate from an unapproved clinic.
How long is a UK visa TB certificate valid?
The general GOV.UK guide states six months from the X-ray date for a certificate showing no TB. Check the date on your document and the current application guidance.
Does passing the TB test guarantee a visa?
No. The certificate addresses the applicable TB requirement. Admission, sponsorship and all other immigration conditions are assessed separately.
