There is no single GPA, percentage, English score or study-gap allowance that settles every UK application from Nepal. Check the exact qualification and chosen course, then keep academic admission, English evidence and Student visa requirements separate.
Start with your actual qualification and intended level
Record the qualification title, awarding body, subjects, completion year, grades and the scale printed on the transcript. A Nepalese school certificate, A levels, a three-year bachelor’s degree and a four-year bachelor’s degree are not interchangeable records. Send the institution the qualification you actually hold instead of converting it into an unsupported GPA equivalent.
Choose undergraduate, foundation, postgraduate or another route before comparing entry criteria. A preparatory route can have different academic requirements and progression conditions. Ask which final degree it leads to and whether the extra study period changes your complete tuition and living budget.

Read grade examples as university guidance, not a UK-wide rule
Hertfordshire’s Nepal page gives typical routes for most programmes. Its first-year undergraduate example lists a two-year higher secondary certificate at 70% or above. For taught postgraduate study, its examples distinguish a three-year bachelor’s degree at 65% from a four-year degree at 60%. The page also warns that course-specific conditions and individual assessment apply.
Portsmouth likewise distinguishes three-year and four-year bachelor’s qualifications in its postgraduate guidance. It also publishes school, foundation and alternative qualification information. Read the relevant qualification subsection with the exact course page; a number copied out of context cannot confirm your individual entry route.

Compare the four questions that determine your next step
Build a short evidence table for every shortlisted course. Where a condition is absent or unclear, ask admissions rather than treating the missing information as permission. Save the written answer with the course and intake it concerns.

Explain English evidence and gaps without assuming a blanket waiver
A university can require different English evidence for different courses. Ask about the accepted test, component scores and any alternative evidence for your own educational history. An MOI letter or Grade 12 English result should not be described as automatically accepted across the UK. GOV.UK explains the separate English requirement and circumstances in which a higher education provider can assess degree-level applicants.
For a study gap, prepare a month-and-year timeline of education, employment, training and other periods. Use accurate documents and explain why the proposed subject and level make sense now. The qualification examples above do not establish a universal maximum gap or guarantee acceptance of a long gap; ask the relevant institution to assess your record.

Resolve the largest uncertainty before paying
Ask one specific question at a time: whether your qualification meets the academic route, what English condition remains, or how the institution will assess a gap. Include the course title, start date and documents needed for that question. Do not send an unexplained collection of personal records to an unofficial channel.
Once you receive an offer, make a checklist of the outstanding conditions, evidence and deadlines. Admission does not replace later CAS preparation or the visa decision. Check the written deposit and refund terms before making a commitment, especially where an entry condition or document assessment remains unresolved.

Common questions
What GPA is required to study in the UK from Nepal?
There is no single UK-wide GPA threshold in the university sources used here. Requirements depend on the qualification, grading scale, course and institution. Ask admissions to assess the original transcript rather than inventing a GPA conversion.
Can I apply for a UK master’s with a three-year bachelor’s degree from Nepal?
Some universities publish routes for three-year degrees, including Hertfordshire and Portsmouth, but the required grades, subjects and course conditions must be checked. A published country example is not an individual offer.
How much study gap is accepted in the UK?
These sources do not establish one universal maximum for every course. Prepare an accurate timeline and ask the university about your circumstances. A previous applicant’s acceptance is not a guarantee for another application.
Does meeting the university grade requirement guarantee a Student visa?
No. Academic admission is separate from CAS preparation and the applicable Student visa requirements. Check the official documents and English guidance for your circumstances.
